Hampta Pass is famous for its sudden, dramatic change in scenery. The trail begins in the dense green forests and wildflower meadows of Manali, ascends to a high pass at 14,100 ft, and descends into the cold desert landscape of Spiti. The trek concludes with a visit to the ethereal Chandratal Lake, a crescent-shaped high-altitude lake.

Trek through the vast, green meadows of Jwara, crossing icy mountain streams to reach the spectacular campsite of Balu Ka Ghera.
The Pass Crossing
Trek over snow patches and rocky moraine to reach the summit of Hampta Pass. Look down into the stark, dry Spiti Valley before descending to Shea Goru.
Spiti Descent & Moon Lake Camp
Descend from Shea Goru to Chatru, and drive across raw Spiti roads to visit and camp near the spectacular Chandratal (Moon Lake).
Return to Manali
Drive back from Chandratal Lake through the engineering marvel of Atal Tunnel to reach Manali.
